It was good for very basic play but as soon as she was ready for more advanced play (probably 1 year old) she became bored with it.Just a personal peeve also, it constantly repeats the invitations to play, so prepared to have those drilled into your brain every time it's used. this toy was good for my daughter when she was a baby and just beginning to walk and talk, but now she's bored of it.
The problem with this drum is that it's always playing music, on any of the three settings (except on one setting, but only when it's lying sideways.)., so a child cannot learn cause and effect: to associate his/her own beating on it with it making a sound.
Kids like to bang on things, so why not have the alphabet answer them. My two year old got this for Christmas last year and has been enjoying it ever since. Very fun and educational too.
Background music and not the same sound every time. However, son enjoys this (6 months).Music mode and drum mode is kind of annoying. I would suggest Drum mode, and then options to have different sounds selected instead of rotating. Sometimes hits dont make it trigger. Have to whack it pretty hardA more sensitive sensor should be used.
Hopefully, my daughter will have more interest in it as she gets older. This product seems like it will be educational, but right now my 7 1/2 month old daughter can't hit it hard enough. Even though the manufacturer claims it is for babies 6 months old and up I don't know many 6 month old babies who can hit it hard enough to work.
